Why families come to us
Judgment-free mental health support, close to home
The WellMind Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Northeast Florida. Program costs are set case by case once you submit a request, funded by donations and by the workforce training we deliver to local organizations.
Cost is set case by case
Screenings, peer support groups, children's programs, family training, and referral navigation are arranged once you submit a request. A care navigator confirms any cost with you before anything begins. No insurance, no income test, no documentation requirement.
Support led by people with lived experience
Our peer support specialists have walked this road. Groups meet weekly in all five counties, in English and Spanish.
Warm referrals, not waitlists
When a family needs a therapist or psychiatric provider who accepts Medicaid, a care navigator makes the connection directly and follows up.
Community programs
Seven programs, one simple request
From pregnancy through high school, and for the adults holding a family together.
Perinatal Mental Health Support
Mental health screenings, peer support groups, and crisis navigation for pregnant and postpartum women across all five Northeast Florida counties. We use validated clinical screening tools including the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), PHQ-9, and GAD-7 to identify women who need support, and connect them to care immediately. No appointment is needed for a screening. Cost is confirmed case by case once you submit a request.
Peer Support Groups
Weekly peer support groups for mothers, fathers, and families led by trained peer support specialists with their own lived experience of mental health challenges. Groups meet across all five counties, and every group is confidential and welcoming to everyone regardless of insurance status, income, or documentation. Cost is confirmed case by case once you submit a request.
Children's Mental Wellness Programs
Five age-based children's mental wellness programs delivered in Head Start centers, elementary schools, after-school programs, and community sites. All materials, activities, and family resources are provided. Cost is confirmed case by case once you submit a request.
Family Training Programs
Mental health training for new mothers, fathers, extended family members, and community supporters. Covers perinatal mental health, emotional wellness, family resilience, and how to support a loved one experiencing a mental health challenge. Delivered in community sites, churches, and Head Start locations.
